Nikolaus in Germany:
Each December 6th we put our polished shoes in front of the door. St.Niclaus is coimng during the night and brings sweets and small presents. The person who hasn't been good all year long, receives just a black cole. My question: How is it in Poland?

Bad times in the Netherlands, because there is christmas almost over. Not that they don’t like the presents on Dec 24th. No - their tradition is, that the kids as well as adults receive their gifts in the night from the fifth to the sixth.
Why is it like that?
Because originally that is the real christmas day. In the rest of eurpope christmas just shifted from the sixth to the twenty-fourth of December.
What are the kids doing?
The same as our kids do, when Father Christmas is coming, they are writing a letter with their wishes to Sinterklaas. The list is called een verlanglijstje.
Presents...
The gifts are packed into nice and imaginative wrapping paper. Those flamboyant presents are given to the youngsters, teenagers or parents with a jocosely rhyme.
Chocolate
Each year the dutch consume approximately 20 Million chocolate letters, which is a very popular sweet in the country beside the Baltic sea.
Finally – Sinterklaas
You might think: Who copied from whom? Santa Claus=Sintaklaas? You are right. Santa Claus is the English form of the dutch one. When the dutch emigrated to the US they also brought the tradition of Sinterklaas with them.
Sinter itself is a bishop who was historical born in turkey and has done many good deeds. Nowadays Santaklaas arrives from spain and his arrival is a annual event. It is broadcasted live in TV each year.
Todays Song
I sought for a dutch christmas song as well. So thats it about the Netherlands.
